Here are the download links for  Yahoo Messenger version 8.1 , 9 and Yahoo Messenger for Vista (offline installers). For some reason, only version 8.1 works behind proxies while the others fail to connect even though they have an option for it. Version 9 has some new skins, emoticons and a few bug fixes. Yahoo Messenger For Vista has the most attractive interface. It is built on the Windows Presentation Foundation (code named “Avalon”). It blends well with Windows Vista Aero Interface and also has a gadget for Windows Sidebar. However it has many features missing such as group chat, PC to PC voice chat, no support for IMvironments etc. Yahoo Messenger 9 will replace 8.1 if it is already installed and vice versa but Yahoo Messenger for Vista will install separately and will not overwrite older versions. Based on your whims and fancies, take your pick and download the version of your choice.
